When will I learn. Beginning the magic of creating a comic at 2am is not a good idea.

I'll post my 4th favorite anime review real soon, don't worry. For now, I'm going to take my own advice.

Hellsing

If you've seen one vampire hunter anime you've seen 'em all right? Wrong. Hellsing redefines the standard of cool, more specifically the vampire turned vampire hunter, Alucard, redefines the standard of cool.

Without revealing too much, the plot in a nutshell is The Hellsing Organization run by Integra Wingates Hellsing (who is hardcore in her own right) is a secret organization that protects the world from vampires and the undead. Alucard who works on the side of Hellsing, shows no mercy on 'lower class vampires,' especially when the true origins of the vampire scum is revealed.

Seras Victoria, the character the series follows most, joins the Hellsing organization when a fatal gunshot wound leaves her with the choice of dying then and there or living as a vampire. But she's pretty much just eye candy. The characters who really kick ass are of course Alucard, Walter, and Alexander Anderson.

Walter, Integras assistant whom Alucard refers to as "The Angel of Death" found a unique weapon in silver thread. I've only seen this in one other anime, that being Spriggan. Alexander Anderson is the Catholic Church's response to Alucard. See, Integra is protestant, which generates some friction between the two forces. Alexander is a vampire hunter, a demented man of God with the ability to regenerate and produce a seemingly infinite amount of knives. The fights between Alucard and Alexander are some of the coolest fight scenes I've ever witnessed. My hat goes off to the animators.

As far as Vampire Hunting anime's go Hellsing has a pretty original plot and some of the most hardcore characters in the history of anime. Alucard makes me wanna be a vampire when I grow up and Alexander Anderson makes me consider converting to Catholicism and talking about it makes me wanna watch the series again.
