Once again we've brought back a game from the archive to make it our group's new pastime. Now, instead of dabbling our time in Double Dash, we're absorbing it into one of the GameCube's true classics: Super Smash Bros. Melee. Smash Bros. christened my GameCube experience, it probably did the same for a lot of us, and ever since then my friends and I have held a special bond with it. Whenever there was nothing to do, there was always Smash Bros. Whenever there was something to do, but we didn't want to do it, there was Smash Bros. Whenever we wanted to play Smash Bros... yeah, it was still there. Fact is, it's always been there for us. When it comes to a consistent fun-factor the game just has it covered - it's proven itself time and time again. Judging by the all-time stats, we've compiled weeks upon weeks of hours into the thing, and I still feel giddy every time I knock somebody off the screen. I'm glad that we can still rely on Smash Bros. to provide a satisfying level of entertainment, even after all these years. That, my friends and colleagues, is the mark of a truly great game.
We've finished all of Undergrads, it took us most of two nights. The show is absolutely brilliant. Four long-time friends depart off to college each in search of the college experience. There's Nitz: the somewhat normal but naive student, Rocko: the guy with a one-track mind (and it isn't on school work), Cal: the oblivious yet hunky lady's man, and Gimpy: the insanely nerdy Star Wars fanatic. Undergrads is extraordinarily funny, every single episode is packed with hilarious dorm-life antics. Everything from campus traditions to fraternities to work study to dorm parties is included. It seems the only thing they left out is the studying and classes... but that's not the important part of college anyway, right? The series does come with a catch, and I feel it's important to warn potential viewers of this beforehand. As it stands now, only one season has been produced, and the last episode leaves events completely up in the air. The worst of it is that there's a good chance no more episodes will ever be made. It's a tad bit frustrating to devote two whole nights of one's life and not only receive no resolution, but no potential for resolution either. Honestly, though, it was worth it. I regret nothing.
