I've recently become reacquainted with a dear old friend of mine, my trusty GBA. It's spent a large portion of this year sitting idly atop my desk with no one to utilize it as the ultimate handheld mechanism that it truly is. That's been the unfortunate consequence of mostly school and work, I suppose, though I fear it may have also come about as a result of habit. For awhile I neatly forgot about its very existence, and this awful trend continued until one day recently when its aesthetically sleek design caught my eye once again. It was then when I regained that same initial excitement I had when I first picked it out of the store. Honestly, the device elicits satisfaction from the very touch. I wouldn't believe you if you said otherwise.
My game of choice, because I've played and beaten the other two I own, has been Mario Kart: Super Circuit. I'm pretty familiar with its console counterparts, I'm sure we've all played more than our share of Double Dash, so my approach to this game has been as a veteran of sorts. My pride keeps me playing strictly on 150 CC, but races on this setting have come to humble me virtually every time. I can secure first place in maybe ten percent of my races, if I'm lucky, and that's only after learning every nick and twist in the track. It does a number on my confidence, but a good challenge is always welcome as far as I'm concerned.
I've still got two more midterms left, one tonight and one tomorrow afternoon. I think I speak for every college student when I discuss how good it feels to have completed all of one's midterms - there's a nice bubble of less stress between that point and finals week. I'll certainly be breathing a sigh of relief on Wednesday.
